Phonics - Why teach them?
The Magic Crayons are all kindergarten, preschool, or international school ESL teachers in Japan. These are the lesson plans they have used or continue to use in their classes.

Dr. Seuss lesson plans

We teach these to our Japanese ESL students once a week, for between 30 and 50 minutes. There are 8 units provided for each book, although feel free to spend as much time on a unit as you wish. By the time you include a greeting circle routine, hello song, goodbye some, roll call and so on, each unit can happily last a whole term. The teachers guide includes details on suitable songs and phonics.

For teachers

The Magic Crayons members all used to work at the same dispatch teaching company. They provided English lesson to almost 50 schools in and around Tokyo. We surveyed the 26 staff and asked for their top tips and suggestions on classroom behavioral management techniques. The response was almost over whelming, but gratefully received.
It is no small read but if you are involved in teaching English in a Japan or another foreign country this will provide an invaluable source of advice from experienced teachers

Classes with mums, toddlers, babies

The most popular of our lesson plan pages ! We love teaching young children; playing games, singing songs and making crafts. We have come to realise that this is not for everyone, and have decided to share with you our top tips and lesson plans. These are suitable for ages 0-2. We wrote them for use in Japan with our ESL students but they will work just as well in an native English or other ESL environment. Our teachers guide goes into more detail about keeping the little ones engaged and the mums and dads happy. Good luck, and please remember to book mark this site as we have many materials here to help you.
